Patient & Family Support Services provides direct care, resources, and education to patients, families, staff members, and the community.  They help create a healing environment through family-centered care.  

Family support services is composed of medical social workers, child life specialists, volunteers, chaplains, children's education services, interpreters, music therapy, Rainbow Kids Palliative Care, bereavement program, parent resource center, parent support coordinators, family advisory council, and kids council.

    All of these services are available to patients and families staying at the hospital.  For more information, please contact the support service directly or talk to your care provider within the hospital.   

    Medical Social Work
    Medical social workers help patients and families cope with stress when a child receives care at the hospital. They help families identify support systems, resources, and other programs a family might need.     Child Life Specialists
    Child life specialists help patients and families understand and manage the stress related to illness, injury, and healthcare. They promote family strengths and coping skills, and support your child's healthy growth and development. (801) 662-3701
    Chaplaincy Services
    Hospital chaplains are available to all individuals, families, and staff of all religions and faiths. They are also available to those with no faith tradition. (801) 914-6044For a chaplain during evening and weekends call (801) 914-7948.
    Children's School Services
    Children's school services provide year-round instruction while your child is in the hospital. This will help your child keep and develop academic skills. Teachers provide supplies, resource material, and computer access. Family members and school personnel may access individual strategies and resources to help your child go back to school successfully after being in the hospital. 801) 662-4914
    Interpretation and Language Services
    Language program services is composed of interpreters who help patients, families, and the healthcare team communicate. They provide clear information about your child's medical condition, history, and treatment choices. (801) 914-6667For Outpatient Clinics (801) 662-3712
    Music Therapy
    Music therapists use music to treat patients and siblings of all ages and ability. This is done individually and in groups. Music therapists address socialization, communication, emotions, physical issues, thinking, memory, pain control, and senses. (801) 662-3712
    Palliative Care - Rainbow Kids
    Rainbow Kids is a consultation service that can be provided to any child and their family experiencing a life-limiting illness. The Rainbow kids team consists of a social worker, chaplain, nurse practitioner, nurse, and doctor. (801) 662-3770
    Bereavement Program
    The beareavement program supports families through the death of a child. The beareavement coordinator provides grief support to patients, families, and staff. (801) 662-3701
    Parent Resource Center
    The parent resource center is a special place in the hospital on the third floor in the Forever Young Zone. The staff in the parent resource center help parents, patients, families, hospital personnel, and the community locate information and resources while staying in the hospital. (801) 662-3795
