Patients needing interpretation services should contact the Language Services office 24 hours prior to service if possible.
Primary Children’s provides interpretation services in any language, including hearing impaired patients and their families. Interpreters help hospital staff clearly understand the medical condition and history and help the patient and family understand the medical condition and treatment option.
American Sign Language interpreters can also be arranged through the Language Program office. A TTY system is available for patients who need hearing assistance. The system can be placed in the patient’s room to facilitate communication with family members, or used at the doctor’s office for proper communication if an American Sign Language interpreter is not available
Services are provided for patients and families during clinic visits, hospital stays, and surgery.

Primary Children’s provee servicios de interpretación en cualquier idioma, incluyendo lenguaje por señas para los pacientes y familiares sordomudos. Los intérpretes ayudan al personal hospitalario a entender claramente la condición e historia médica del paciente; y al paciente y a su familia a entender la condición médica y tratamiento.
Los servicios de interpretación por señas se coordinan a través de la oficina de interpretación. Tenemos un sistema telefónico TTY para los pacientes con necesidades auditivas. El sistema puede colocarse en la habitación del paciente para facilitar su comunicación con familiares y/o en el consultorio del doctor para proveer comunicación apropiada en caso de no tener interprete por señas disponible.
Los servicios de interpretación están disponibles para los pacientes y sus familias durante las citas de consulta externa, hospitalización y cirugías.
