Surgical Services Means Great, Convenient Surgical Care for Patients at Riverton Hospital
The scope of surgical services on the campus of Riverton Hospital may surprise anyone who’s previously had to travel across the valley for certain specialized procedures.
Now, there’s excellent care for everyone — from knee surgery for weekend warriors and gynecological services for women, to orthopedic surgery for injured skateboarders and cataract repair for seniors — all right in your community.
Superior Design and Equipment
In addition to the wide range of services available, Riverton Hospital’s patients will appreciate the expertise of the staff and the design of the hospital.
Riverton’s five operating rooms are ultra-efficient and spacious. Operating rooms in older hospitals were designed with older technology in mind. Today’s operating rooms must be much larger to accommodate the equipment used, and the teams who work together.
The Technology
Everything is suspended from the ceiling on gliding arms, clearing the floor so a surgical team has optimal room to move and work together.
The operating rooms also include high-tech imaging capabilities, which allow surgeons to see not only images of a surgical site before surgery, but updated images of these same areas during the procedure. This means each surgeon has a detailed, evolving look at the body’s organs and structures as they work, which leads to more precise treatment.
Post-Surgical Care
The building was designed so the ORs, postoperative care, and nurses are all nestled together to ensure the best treatment for our patients.
It may not sound like an important detail, but it can mean pain medication is delivered more quickly to a patient in discomfort, or that a patient is quickly reunited with loved ones after a procedure.
If patients are awake after surgery and have a long way to go to get to their rooms, it can be really uncomfortable. We get people settled and reoriented quickly and with care.
Other Benefits of Riverton Hospital’s Surgical Services
Seasoned staff. The overwhelming majority of our nurses and techs in the ORs and the medical/surgical unit have years of experience in a variety of settings. That’s a great benefit to our patients.
Privacy. Architects designed the ORs and medical/surgical unit to ensure as much privacy as possible for patients. Surgery patients in some hospitals are transported via public hallways, which can make them feel uncomfortable and exposed. Riverton has a special patients-only hall to ensure discretion. Also, same-day surgery patients will have private rooms in which to prepare and recover from surgery. In many hospitals, these patients are separated from one another with just a thin curtain.
Minimally invasive techniques. Riverton also offers the very latest minimally-invasive techniques and tools, including endoscopy services.
