The TOSH Arthritis Program is a multidimensional approach to the treatment of osteoarthritis. From physical therapy, nutrition, stress management, exercise and surgical options, our trained experts help you to manage and improve your arthritis symptoms to help you achieve the freedom and pain-free movement you want.

and information available and have developed several arthritis programs at our facility.

What to expect
When you start your treatment at TOSH, your quality of life will improve. You’ll have more flexibility, and your bones will become stronger through weight-bearing exercises.
We will give you education and exercises to do at home, which will help improve your condition. By following your custom treatment plan, you’ll start to feel better again.

Water (pool) therapy
We offer aquatic exercise classes designed to help decrease pain and increase mobility for those with arthritis through buoyancy.
TOSH nutrition experts provide participants with individualized nutrition counseling to positively impact health and arthritic symptoms. Topics include, but are not limited to:
- Disease and weight management
- Decreasing inflammation through nutrition
- Reducing risk for chronic disease
- Ensuring we’re getting adequate energy and supporting physical activity
The ARTHRO-FIT classes are conducted at multiple times throughout the week, and participants are grouped by ability and goals to ensure a positive and productive workout. Class size is limited to six people to ensure a personalized experience.
Each 60-minute class features three different types of exercises to help participants achieve better health and mobility:
- Aerobic conditioning on a treadmill or a bike in an interval format in order to improve endurance and maximize calories burned.
- Strength training in a circuit format to maximize calories burned and minimize stress on your joints.
- Flexibility and stretching of the major muscle groups in order to minimize stiffness and increase mobility.
The Artho-Fit class is also great for people who have recently had joint replacement surgery.
Why does exercise help arthritis?
Exercise is a core treatment for people with arthritis regardless of age, pain, severity and disability. Exercise will help prevent stiffness, weakness and help you maintain a healthy weight. Without exercise you will lose muscle strength and range of motion in the affected joint.
Exercise will lubricate the joint with much needed nutrients. Appropriate exercise will not “wear out” a damaged joint faster, but will actually help decrease stress across the joint as the surrounding muscles become stronger.
