Most sports-related injuries can be successfully treated with physical therapy and rest. When an injury is more severe, it may require surgery.
We are fortunate at TOSH to have fellowship-trained surgeons who can treat all spine and extremity injuries. Our operating room staff are also orthopedic experts. This combined expertise means: You’ll have the best outcome possible for your injury.
Recovery times vary for different surgeries, your age, and the severity of the injury. Some surgeries have a short recovery time period. An arthroscopic meniscectomy, for example, is a procedure to repair a torn meniscus. It has a short recovery. You should be able to return to your previous activity level within 2 to 4 weeks following your procedure and rehabilitation.
Other surgeries may require months of specialized rehabilitation. An ACL (anterior cruciate ligament ) reconstruction will often take between six to 12 months of healing before you can return to your previous activity level.
Regardless of your type of injury, treatment by dedicated specialists in the field of sports medicine will give you the best possible result and get you back to playing your sport as quickly as possible.
