The residents, faculty and staff of Utah Valley Family Medicine Residency in Provo, Utah, enthusiastically encourage all interested fourth-year medical students to come and spend two weeks or a month with us for a family medicine or community medicine rotation. Rotations are available during every month of the year. We are committed to providing a meaningful learning opportunity in an educationally progressive, supportive learning environment.
Students who do clerkships with us spend part of their month rounding with our inpatient family medicine team at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. Our medical center service provides the full spectrum of family medicine including pediatric, adult and obstetric patients. Students are responsible for following their own patients, writing progress notes and presenting a care plan to the team on rounds. Students are encouraged to be contributors on the team by participating in discussions, procedures, and occasionally making presentations on pertinent medical topics. The remainder of the month is spent in our outpatient clinic located on the main hospital campus.
This clinic is a state-of-the-art facility with 19 exam rooms and two procedure rooms. It offers students experience with electronic medical records. Students are required to do one call night per week and one weekend call night during the month.
Students are given a meal stipend for the month. We have limited housing available for students who do a rotation with us if they don't have family in the area with whom they can stay. Please inquire early if interested. We look forward to having you visit with us.
