One of the benefits of staying at an Intermountain Healthcare facility like Utah Valley Regional is our team approach to patient care. From physicians, nurses and pharmacists to specialized resources like therapists and dieticians, we make sure all aspects of your health are taken into consideration as we create a customized treatment plan for you.
During your stay, you will likely come into contact with many of the following members of your care team.
Physicians
A physician directs and oversees your care, treatment and recovery. This may be your primary care physician, a physician at the hospital or other specialists. A physician will visit you to follow up on your progress and to regularly evaluate your treatment plan.
Registered Nurses (RNs)
The nurses that coordinate your treatment will be some of the most frequent faces you'll see. Our registered nurses visit every two hours to provide treatments and medications and analyze your condition. Their detailed reports are given to your physician to help provide him or her with the most current information, allowing for the best treatment plans possible. You will likely have different nurses attending to your care during your stay, due to changing nurse shifts.
Patient Care Assistants (PCAs)
Working in partnership with your nurse, patient care assistants help you with personal needs like hygiene, meals and activity. They will also change linens as needed and daily freshen your bed.
Pharmacists
The in-house pharmacy at Utah Valley Regional is supervised by licensed pharmacists who work with your physician and nurses to provide appropriate medications. If you would like to speak with a pharmacist about your medication, please inform your nurse or patient care assistant.
Dieticians
Our registered dieticians help ensure you receive the diet that is best suited to your treatment plan. They take into consideration your physician's diet order, special diet needs and your personal preferences. If your post-hospital treatment plan involves a special diet, a dietician will work with you to help you understand how to best follow that plan. If you would like to speak to a dietician, please let your nurse or PCA know.
Therapists
A number of therapists are on hand to assist with your treatment, as necessary. These include physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, respiratory therapists and others.
Managers
Providing you with an excellent healing experience is our top priority. To help ensure our team is meeting that standard, managers may visit you during your stay.
Care Managers and Social Workers
A care manager and social worker will be assigned to you and may visit with you and/or your family during your stay to assist with insurance questions, special needs, and to coordinate your hospital discharge.
Environmental Services Staff
A clean living space is important to the healing process and our environmental services staff is on hand to assist with the daily cleaning and disinfecting your room and bathroom.
