The Utah Valley Cancer Center encourages men over age 65 to receive regular prostate exams. The second-most common cancer in men, prostate screenings can help detect prostate cancer. Fortunately, prostate cancer has a high survivor rate, largely due to early detection through prostate screenings.

Risk Factors

Knowing risk factors can play an important role in the screening process. Factors include:

  • Personal and/or family history of prostate cancer
  • Males over the age of 65
  • Race
  • Changes in prostate

Prostate Cancer Symptoms

  • Urinary issues
  • Difficulty having an erection
  • Blood in semen or urine
  • Regular pain in hips, upper thighs or lower back

The Utah Valley Cancer Center provides occasional prostate screenings, but it is recommended you schedule a screening with your primary care physician.

If you have questions about prostate cancer or what is involved with a screening, please contact your primary care physician.
