The Utah Valley Cancer Center encourages men over age 65 to receive regular prostate exams. The second-most common cancer in men, prostate screenings can help detect prostate cancer. Fortunately, prostate cancer has a high survivor rate, largely due to early detection through prostate screenings.
Knowing risk factors can play an important role in the screening process. Factors include:
- Personal and/or family history of prostate cancer
- Males over the age of 65
- Changes in prostate
Prostate Cancer Symptoms
- Urinary issues
- Difficulty having an erection
- Blood in semen or urine
- Regular pain in hips, upper thighs or lower back
The Utah Valley Cancer Center provides occasional prostate screenings, but it is recommended you schedule a screening with your primary care physician.
