Astym is a treatment that encourages proper healing of soft tissue. It also reduces the effects of scar tissue and increases strength.
Balance training helps prevent falls by increasing a person's upright stability through specific activities.
In a bike fitting, we measure the patient in relation to their bike to optimize mechanics utilizing video analysis and specialized tools.
In this treatment, we apply force to alleviate stress from the spine to help with pain management.
The Dartfish video analysis is a computer-assisted body movement analysis program that allows the therapist to analyze improper body mechanics associated with a sport or activity and then use as feedback to make improvements.
In gait training, a therapist re-educates that patient on how to walk properly after an injury or disability.
Graston Technique is a trademarked therapeutic method that uses six stainless steel tools for diagnosing and treating disorders of the skeletal muscles and related connective tissue.
Hydrotherapy involves utilizing a hot or cold whirlpool to help with pain and improve joint mobility.
Kinesio taping involves using a lightweight, elastic tape that encourages muscle activity and reduces pain.
Manual therapy is a hands-on treatment to decrease pain and improve joint mobility.
Neurorehabilitation is a collection of treatment interventions that are case specific and focus on aiding a person's recovery, or help that individual to live a more normal, active, and independent life. The quality of life of a person can be greatly affected by a brain or spinal cord injury, or a medical condition which affects the mobility, cognitive functions, or other physical or psychological processes that have been affected by changes in the nervous system. The goal of neurorehabilitation is to combat those changes and improve quality of life by various therapies.
Orthopedic rehabilitation is a form of physical therapy that treats a large variety of conditions that affect the skeletal and muscular system.
Our pediatric rehabilitation program is for children ages 0-21 and includes diagnostic testing and treatment for a number of child-related illnesses, physical disabilities and other activities that affect a child's daily activities.
Speech and language pathologists and audiologists provide evaluation and treatment services for children and adults.
Neuro-rehablitation is a complex medical process which aims to aid recovery from a nervous system injury.
In a video walking/running analysis the therapist utilizes the Dartfish software to analyze and correct improper mechanics.
What to Expect
Most of our patients are referred by their physician. However, because Utah is an open-access state for physical therapy, patients can also be self-referred.
On the first visit, an initial evaluation is performed to determine if physical therapy is the best treatment option. If therapy is not appropriate, other recommendations can be made.
A patient history form and outcomes questionnaire will need to be filled out prior to receiving therapy and rehabilitation treatments. These forms can be emailed or be filled out in the office prior to the visit.
For a new evaluation, patients need to arrive 15-20 minutes early in order to complete paperwork.
What should I bring
- Comfortable clothes that allow for the area of the body being treated to move freely.
- A physician's referral, if applicable.
- X-ray or MRI reports.
- A list of medications.
What will I likely experience?
During a typical visit, manual therapy will be used to improve joint function. Patients are also instructed on an exercise program to help healing at home.
How long will the appointment last?
We strive to complete most patient appointments within 60 minutes, though the time may vary based on treatments provided and patient needs.
Follow-up appointments are usually scheduled before patients leave the clinic. Patients typically follow-up in the clinic one to two times a week, depending on circumstances. A patient may also be instructed on home exercises. Follow-up for these exercises often occurs after two weeks to monitor patient response to the exercises. We average 5-6 visits per condition.
