The entire sleep study is scored by a certified sleep technician. Scoring entails evaluation of airflow, sleep stage, oxygen level, breathing effort, cardiac rhythm, and limb movements. The entire study is evaluated by the sleep physician, including the actual sleep recording, scoring, and technician notes. An interpretation is completed and sent to the referring physician. Typically this process takes 5 to 7 days.
Your doctor will work with you to plan an appropriate treatment program for your sleep disorder once he or she has received the sleep report from your study. Treatment programs can include the use of medications, CPAP, or even surgery; the ultimate goal is to help you return to enjoying the psychological and physical benefits of a good night’s sleep.
