Sometimes a mother with a high-risk pregnancy will need to stay at the hospital for added attention and special care. In these cases, mothers stay in 1 of 9 antepartum rooms. These large and spacious rooms have a feel of home, with many of the same amenities, including privacy and Internet access, not to mention an amazing view of the mountains.
Specially-trained genetic counselors assess patients for their individual risks of inherited disease and advise parents about risk factors and potential treatment options. These counselors also help families connect to community resources and support groups.
Gestational Diabetes Clinic
The Maternal Fetal Medicine team holds a gestational diabetes clinic every Monday for expectant mothers who have either Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. Patients are treated by the diabetic educators with their care being overseen by a perinatologist. These visits are often in conjunction with an ultrasound or a non-stress test, making it more convenient for the patient.
