You love taking cool pix and videos of yourself and friends having fun. Have you ever thought about what it's like to be a real photographer? It can be a great way to get in touch with your creative side. It can also be a fun way to spend active time outdoors (better than sitting inside, watching TV or playing computer games), and who knows, you just might discover that you have a natural talent!
If you own or can use a family member's digital camera, video or still, that's helpful — but it's hardly a necessity since practically everyone's phone has a camera these days.=
What to do? Here's a plan:
Start at your front door. What can you see — if you take a long shot? Can you zoom in on something far away? How about focusing in on something really close — a rock, a plant, a squirrel in a nearby tree?
Go sightseeing in your neighborhood, a local park or on a street nearby. Walk around, thinking like a photographer? What's fun to look at ... funny ... interesting? Look for unusual color combinations, shapes or angles, textures, or something that looks like something else!
Take pictures of people — with a theme. How about people from the back? Or people in their cars? People and their pets?
Choose something and take pictures at different times of day, every day at the same time, every week or every season. Compare them to see how they change.
A camera can change the way you look at the world — and it's a snappy way to have some active fun!
