The Healthcare Transformation Lab is an
environment of rapid innovation and change where our teams build
prototypes and proof of concepts for a diversified portfolio of
technology ideas. We accomplish this by:
Allowing for better and more efficient evaluation of technologies
Supporting leadership's dedication to developing partnerships
Continuing Intermountain's legacy of true innovation
Capitalizing on outside expertise and resources
We work to build upon and bring together four key Intermountain research strengths:
Quality improvement culture encompassing both the education and implementation of Q.I. tools and principles
Translational research focused on
improving bedside care through the exploration, refinement, and
implementation of new techniques
Scientific discoveries uncovered by
academic faculty and critical for ongoing progress in the pursuit of
Information systems capable of augmenting the provision of best care consistently

The Healthcare Transformation Lab is planned to be located in two buildings on the Intermountain Medical Center campus.
The first building is the Healthcare Briefing Center, which was completed in March 2013. At approximately 12,000 square feet, the briefing center houses the Lab’s personnel and offers collaborative space for discussions, and design and engineer work.
The second building is the Transformation Demonstration Lab, which offers 8,000 square feet for testing and demonstration. The demonstration lab is co-located with Intermountain’s Patient Outreach Services and TeleHealth Services to provide a highly interactive and technologically advanced patient and ICU rooms. The demonstration lab is scheduled to be completed by August 2013.
