The Central Laboratory’s Coding department performs ancillary coding, charge posting, and ensures that bills are correct before sending them to clients, patients, and insurers. An average of 390,000 transactions are billed per month with more than half of those needing to be coded. Coding is also responsible for giving out pricing information for all Urban Central Region laboratories.

The Central Laboratory's Billing department is responsible for collecting payments from insurance companies as well as patients. They troubleshoot any denials received from the insurance companies and ensure patients receive an accurate billing statement. On average, 900 statements and 1700 claims are billed daily, and 200 invoices are sent to physicians and clinics monthly. Every member of the department provides extraordinary service by answering patient and insurance calls associated with billing concerns and payment arrangements.
