What you get at the Cycling Lab

Musculoskeletal Functional Analysis
We conduct an in-depth physical exam of your body’s strength and joint flexibility. We look at leg length differences, muscle imbalances, joint condition and other physical conditions to assess your injuries and possible risk for future injuries.

Bike Fit
We offer a professional bike fit and specialize in medical bike fitting that not only puts you in a comfortable, ergonomic position, but one that will help with your specific injury or medical condition.  We also conduct a dynamic bike fitting using video analysis.  We examine joint angles and body position during the peddle stroke to optimize efficiency and power output.
Based on your measurements and biomechanics we adjust:

  • Saddle height and set back
  • Handlebar height and reach
  • Cleat position and alignment

A properly fit bike will help you avoid low back pain and neck pain from being in the wrong position. It also helps prevents injuries that may develop in the hips and the knees. Hand and Feet numbness that many cyclists complain about can also be corrected with a properly fit bike. Most importantly, we make sure you are in comfortable position that is optimized for performance and injury prevention.

Performance Test
Performance tests (Lactate Assessment or Vo2 Max) allow you to get the most out of your training time and train in the safest possible way. Through performance test we can help:

  • Optimize training zones for more efficient training
  • Get faster
  • Improve power
  • Improve endurance

Customized training program
Based on your goals, injury assessment, and results of your performance test, we will create a training program specifically for you. We provide exercises prescriptions to improve strength in key areas, and a schedule of rides and training zones that will help you reach your goals for the cycling season. You receive a print out of your results to review and compare to future test as well as a copy of your video analysis.
