collagen and fillers

Over the years, facial skin often loses volume, making the lips and skin look hollow and less full. Fillers are synthetic materials that are injected into the face to restore youthfulness by smoothing wrinkles or lifting skin pockets caused by acne. Collagen and many newer generations of fillers have all received FDA approval for treatment of facial wrinkles.

what to expect

Unlike major plastic surgery, dermal filling can be done in just a few minutes with almost no recovery time. When you arrive for your appointment, we will work with you to determine which areas need treatment. The injection site will then be cleaned and the injections administered. Injections are mixed with lidocaine to help control discomfort. It is recommended that you do not push on the injection sites immediately after treatment to avoid movement of the fillers. Most patients can put on makeup and return to work immediately after their appointment.
Most fillers are temporary lasting from six months to well over a year. Fillers are used for lip plumping as well as the treatment of wrinkles and folds. We commonly use collagen and fillers to treat these areas of the face:
  • nasolabial folds (the lines from the nose to the outside corners of the mouth)
  • marionette lines (the lines just below the corners of the lips)
  • cheeks
  • tear troughs (dark under-eye circles)

Juvederm® is gently injected under the skin into the mid to deep dermis to smooth away facial wrinkles and folds. It's particularly good with wrinkles which are present even when the face is relaxed.

Radiesse® is an injectable filler for treatment of areas such as cheek folds, "marionette lines" extending down from the corners of the mouth, and for augmenting the natural contours of the facial bones, like the cheeks and jawline.

Restylane® is injected into the skin with a very fine needle and is an excellent treatment for wrinkle correction, lip enhancement, smile lines, deep folds, shaping facial contours, and volume augmentation of the lips.

The Thermage procedure is incision-free, requires virtually no down time, and has been clinically proven to tighten and gently lift skin to smooth out wrinkles and renew facial contours.
