A high risk pregnancy is one in which a condition puts the mother, the baby, or both at a higher-than-normal risk for complications during or after the pregnancy and birth. Woman with a high-risk pregnancy need closer monitoring and should be seen and treated by someone who is experienced in caring for complicated pregnancies.
