Intermountain Medical Group

The Intermountain Medical Group is a multi-specialty group of some 580 physicians that is fully integrated with Intermountain by employment. This arrangement greatly facilitates seamless patient care within Intermountain, contributing to clinical excellence, improved service quality, and commitment to the best care at an affordable cost.

  1. Best practice models. As partners, Intermountain Medical Group providers work together sharing information, knowledge, and resources. In so doing, they measure, evaluate, report, and implement improvements in patient care. By sharing best medical practices, clinical teams are improving outcomes in cardiology, oncology, neuromusculoskeletal, pulmonology, neonatology, pediatrics, primary care, and other fields.
  2. Service improvements. Intermountain physicians assist in the development of new services, such as enhanced scheduling and computerized patient records.
  3. Intermountain clinics. Many Intermountain Medical Group doctors practice in neighborhood physician clinics called IHC Health Centers. Others practice at individual offices or at Intermountain hospitals. Most IHC Health Centers offer extended hours, full-service family care (including children's and women's services), radiology and laboratory services, minor surgical procedures, and health education classes. Some centers also include urgent care, pharmacy, physical therapy, and occupational health services.
  4. Most insurance accepted. IHC Health Centers and Intermountain Medical Group providers accept most major insurance plans.
  5. Focus on medical care. Intermountain physicians are free to focus on the practice of medicine. Experts in practice management handle the business side of the doctors' practices, so physicians can devote themselves 100% to providing the best patient care.
  6. Physicians are part of Intermountain's leadership. The Intermountain Medical Group governing board, composed of volunteer board members who are practicing physicians, helps lead the Intermountain Medical Group. Physicians lead efforts to improve clinical quality and the delivery of care, as well as contributing to the Intermountain organization as a whole.
