Our Nonprofit Mission

Charitable assistance is the core of our nonprofit mission.

Intermountain Healthcare's nonprofit hospitals and clinics provide quality care to people within our region who have a medical need, regardless of ability to pay.

Intermountain's nonprofit hospitals and clinics are operated for the benefit of the community, not to maximize profit or benefit shareholders. As a result, Intermountain is able to provide charity care to qualifying patients, and financial support to independent community clinics serving the homeless and low-income populations.

Our total benefit to the community has exceeded $3 billion, since 1989 (inflation adjusted).
During 2006, $97 million in charitable assistance was provided at Intermountain hospitals and clinics, in more than 202,000 cases.
