Benefit to the Community

Intermountain Healthcare has 21 hospitals, more than 140 physician clinic sites through its Medical Group, and provides health plan options through SelectHealth to members in the Intermountain area.

DIRECT COMMUNITY BENEFITS

In 2007, Intermountain hospitals and physician clinics provided approximately $101 million in assistance in more than 189,000 cases. Charity medical care does not include write-offs for bad debts (people unwilling to pay).

Intermountain operates four community clinics for low-income and uninsured populations. These clinics provided care to more than 20,000 individuals in 2006. Intermountain also provides financial and volunteer support to independent medical clinics for the homeless and uninsured throughout the Intermountain region, providing care over 200,000 additional cases that same year.
