LDS, Cottonwood, and Alta View hospitals Nutrition Services treats both inpatients and outpatients through a variety of services.

Outpatient Services:

Our team of nutrition experts specialize in a variety of areas and offer individual counseling for:

Group nutrition education includes:

  • Weight Concepts: 16-week course led by a registered dietitian using an approach of nutrition education, exercise, and behavioral modification. The course also utilizes an exercise physiologist and social worker. This course is designed for those who need to lose weight or those wishing to improve their lifestyle.
  • Lap Band Surgery Support Group & Counseling: Weekly participation in a support group for clients who have had the Lap Band Bariatric surgery. Also, bimonthly one-on-one appointments are available to assess the nutrition status of clients one year out of surgery. Individual counseling is also offered.
  • Dayspring Counseling: Weekly nutrition classes taught to clients going through a drug and alcohol treatment program. The emphasis is on using nutrition as a tool to build physical health, as well as mental and emotional health. The overall goal is to decrease the rate of relapse and increase healthy life practices.

We also treat and counsel patients through a committee and interdisciplinary team that includes:

  • Diet Advisory Committee of the Medical Staff: The committee serves as a sounding board for clinical dietetics issues and goals, and provides input, critique and support for clinical dietetics.
  • Clinical Nutrition Management Task Force: The purpose of the team is to develop corporate policies and standards of care as well as to conduct benchmarking activities and coordinate services.
  • Interdisciplinary Teams: The clinical dietitians participate in a variety of interdisciplinary care teams in their day-to-day jobs, which allows them to offer continued expertise and up-to-date techniques and skills.
