Provo, Utah—Craig Cook, M.D., a surgeon with Utah County Surgical Associates, and Todd Whiting, M.D., a pediatrician with Alpine Pediatrics, have been named Physicians of Excellence by the Intermountain Healthcare Governing Board in Utah County for the fourth quarter of 2007.

Dr. Cook has been an active member of the medical staff at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center for four years and has helped improve the quality of trauma care at the hospital by being a dedicated member of the Trauma Service team. He exemplifies the meaning of extraordinary care by truly listening to each of his patients, keeping them informed and involved and devoting his full attention to their healthcare needs. Dr. Cook also communicates openly and effectively with each patient's nurse during daily rounds, is open to suggestions that will improve patient care and responds promptly and courteously to issues that need his attention.

Dr. Todd Whiting has been an active member of the medical staff at American Fork Hospital for seven years and provides outstanding leadership as chair of the hospital's Pediatrics department. He leads the Nursery Executive Team, which has developed and implemented processes and protocols that have significantly improved the quality of care in the hospital's nurseries. Dr. Whiting is an excellent physician, who is conscientious in his practice, caring in his demeanor and very personable with patients and staff. He acts as a resource to the nursing staff and capitalizes on teaching moments during daily rounds.
