Cassia Regional Medical Center
The Mini-Cassia Sleep Laboratory opened its doors in December 2001 providing the community with local services in polysomnography. Skilled sleep technicians, registered sleep technologists and board certified sleep physicians operate the Sleep Lab utilizing diagnostic and therapeutic protocols in conjunction with the latest equipment to provide the best possible service to our patients.
Polysomnography, the continuous monitoring and recording of physiological data during sleep, can diagnose a multitude of sleep disorders.
Obstructive sleep apnea is the most commonly diagnosed sleep disorder in America, with approximately 12 million sufferers. It is characterized by brief interruptions of breathing during sleep. Snoring is a common symptom of sleep apnea but only occurs in about 60% of patients. Other symptoms include excessive daytime sleepiness, irritability, memory loss and fatigue. Studies have also shown a link between sleep apnea and hypertension, congestive heart failure and stroke.
Additional disorders diagnosed during polysomnography include but are not limited to nocturnal seizures, periodic limb movements and REM behavior.
The Mini-Cassia Sleep Lab is affiliated with the Southeast Idaho Sleep Disorder Center in Pocatello, a nationally accredited sleep center with over 20 years of experience.
