Cardiology & Heart Services
Specialized heart services in Utah's Dixie include EKGs, treadmills and enhanced cardiology care to aid in diagnosis and treatment. Cardiac catheterization by a highly skilled team is supported with an angio suite and state-of-the-art Siemens Coroskop, that can provide views inside the body during catheterization. Cardiac rehabilitation offers expert follow-up services after procedures.
Elective percutaneous coronary intervention was introduced at DRMC in 2003, with expert interventional cardiologist David Boorman, MD, performing the facility's first stent placement.
Major strides have been made toward introducing open-heart surgery at DRMC on River Road, with cardiothoracic surgeon Roger Millar, MD, at LDS Hospital directing that effort. This capability will allow hundreds of local residents who need bypass surgery each year, to stay closer to family and friends.
