IAM welcomes the opportunity to work with inventors at Intermountain facilities. If you think you have an invention or have made a discovery, please contact us. We can help you determine if there are potential commercial opportunities for your inventions. The key is to involve our office early and often.
The following links provide helpful information.
Physicians, researchers, and other employees at Intermountain often make discoveries, create inventions, develop software or other "intellectual assets." Intermountain, through the office of IAM, transfers the rights of these inventions through a license agreement to companies who specialize in bringing products and services to the public. To fully realize the value of an invention, a license agreement must be established to commercially develop the intellectual asset into a product or service.
Patent and copyright protection can provide the incentive for a company to develop the technology into a product or service. Licensing intellectual assets also establishes relationships with commercial companies that can lead to additional sponsored research at Intermountain.
Finally, inventions and copyrightable works may generate license income in the form of royalties which are shared with inventors in accordance with Intermountain's invention policies to support additional research at Intermountain.
