Four things you'll love about the pharmacy at Intermountain Medical Center

The pharmacy uses space-age technology to serve you quickly
The pharmacy has three walk-up pharmacy kiosks at Intermountain Medical Center in the heart/lung center, the main patient tower, and the emergency department. The kiosks work like automatic teller machines, but they have a screen and a telephone so you can talk directly to the pharmacy staff.

You pay by credit or debit card and your medications are sent to you through a vacuum tube system like your bank uses at its drive-through window. The kiosks are connected to Intermountain Healthcare's computer system and are programmed to identify potential adverse drug interactions and drug misuse or abuse to enhance patient safety.

Pharmacy services are proactive and convenient
A pharmacist is stationed at every nurses' station to oversee the choice and dosing protocol of prescribed medicines. Plus, the hospital offers a free pharmaceutical "hospitality program" that allows patients to pre-order their medications and have a pharmacy technician deliver their meds right to their room. Patients will have a chance to talk about their medications with a clinical pharmacist before they're discharged.

Six ordering areas in the pharmacy are walled off for more privacy, plus there's an area that's completely closed off where a patient and pharmacist can meet privately.
