11-Day Course for Practicing Clinicians
miniAdvanced Training Program (miniATP)
A practical, in-depth course for health care professionals who need to teach, implement and investigate quality improvement, outcome measurement and management of both clinical and non-clinical processes.
Objectives for the miniAdvanced Training Program (miniATP) in Health Care Delivery Improvement
The miniAdvanced Training Program is designed to train senior leaders, middle management, and front-line health professionals in the theory and application of cost and quality control as well as the health services academic infrastructure.
The course designed to facilitate the development of skills and competencies needed by community physician leaders, clinical team members, and administrators to actively lead, participate in, and direct Intermountain's clinical management efforts.
The Intermountain Healthcare miniAdvanced Training Program's (miniATP) purpose is to give participants the understanding and tools necessary to conduct state-of-the-art clinical practice improvement projects and use quality improvement methods to manage and integrate clinical processes.
As part of the course, each miniATP participant must select, complete, and report an improvement project. The Institute staff provides consultation for your project.
The miniATP course has a total of 11 days, divided into four sessions. It builds on the experience of Intermountain Healthcare and brings clinical team members together to learn the theory and techniques of:
- Designing data systems
- Outcome measurement and tracking
- Methods for fast improvement
- Data management
- Clinical cost accounting
- Information synthesis and meta-analysis
- Severity of illness measurement and application
- Total Quality Management / Continuous Quality Improvement
- Leadership Skills
The course will include discussions of:
- Core principles of clinical quality improvement based on clinical studies within Intermountain Healthcare
- Tools necessary to improve patient outcomes, quality of care, and cost effectiveness
- Clinical guidelines and protocols
- Necessary leadership skills in building a foundation for integrated clinical research
Accreditation
- Intermountain Healthcare Continuing Medical Education is accredited by Accreditation Council of Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
- Intermountain Healthcare Continuing Medical Education designates this educational activity for a maximum of 68.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
- Intermountain Healthcare CME adheres to ACCME Standards regarding industry support of continuing medical education, and, disclosure of faculty and commercial sponsor relationships (if any) will be made known at the activity.

Course Schedule
Each day sessions begin at 7:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast, followed by presentations at 8:00 a.m. Sessions conclude each day at 5:00 p.m. with the excption the last day of each session, which ends at approximately 12:00 noon.
The presentations provide pertinent information that will assist participants in completing a quality improvement project. Please schedule travel plans so that every presentation is attended.
Location
Training sessions will be held at Intermountain's Corporate Offices, 36 South State Street (Key Bank Tower, formerly Beneficial Life Tower), 16th Floor, in downtown Salt Lake City.

Course Fees & Registration
Tuition for the four-session (11-day) training program is:
- $4,500 for the first person from each clinical team or organization
- $4,000 for the second person attending the same session
- $3,500 for the third person attending the same session

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be made 30 days prior to the first day of class for a full refund. Cancellations within 30 days prior to the first day of class will forfeit $1,000 of the refundable tuition, if the vacancy cannot be filled.
