Hancock, who has served as president of Iasis Healthcare's Utah division for the past four years, has been named chief operating officer of Intermountain Healthcare's Urban Central Region, which includes LDS Hospital, Alta View Hospital, Cottonwood Hospital, TOSH-The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital, and the new Intermountain Medical Center. Hancock replaces Richard Smith, who retired earlier this year due to health issues. "We are excited to have Larry join our team," says H. Gary Pehrson, Intermountain regional vice president. "He brings a wealth of experience to our team and has a wonderful history of outstanding leadership." Hancock has 23 years of healthcare experience, including work in Utah as leader of the Iasis health system, chief executive office of Altius Health Plans, and chief executive officer of St. Mark's Hospital. Hancock has served as president of Iasis Healthcare's Utah market since 2003, where he's been responsible for the operations and strategic direction of four hospitals: Davis Medical Center, Salt Lake Regional, Jordan Valley, and Pioneer Valley. From 1998 to 2003, he served as president, then chief executive officer of Altius Health Plans, which offers managed care insurance to over 200,000 members in Utah. He was president and chief executive officer of St. Mark's Hospital from 1994 to 1996, and before that was assistant administrator/chief financial officer at St. Mark's. He worked for HCA, St. Mark's parent company, for 13 total years in financial and management positions in Utah, New Mexico, and Tennessee. Hancock earned a master's of public administration degree from Brigham Young University and a degree in accounting, also from BYU. He's active in numerous civic and professional organizations.
