Salt Lake CityJim Sheets has been named assistant administrator of Intermountain Healthcare's LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. Sheets will begin his new assignment on June 4, 2007.

Sheets will function as a member of LDS Hospital's administrative leadership team and will work to ensure that assigned departments and services provide high-quality clinical and personal care and fulfill Intermountain's mission, vision, values, and goals.

Sheets will be accountable for approximately half of hospital services as LDS Hospital transitions from 467 beds and 4,480 employees to 300 beds and 2,100 employees after Intermountain Medical Center opens in Murray this October. Sheets will help oversee 14 major clinical services, including inpatient nursing, obesity management, cancer care, heart services, surgical services, minimally invasive endoscopy services, imaging and diagnostic services, behavioral health, and senior services.

"I'm very excited to be joining the team at LDS Hospital," says Sheets. "I grew up in Utah and after spending the last 10 years working for hospitals in California and Arizona, I'm excited to be coming back. My focus will be on building relationships with the staff, physicians, and the community, maintaining our excellent standards of patient care, and helping LDS Hospital continue to be a wonderful resource for the community."

Sheets started his career as an administrative fellow at Catholic Healthcare West in California. Since then he has worked as director of business development and director of operations at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Arizona and most recently as vice president of professional services at Enloe Medical Center in California.

Sheets holds a bachelor's degree in business management from the University of Utah and master's degrees in business administration and healthcare administration from the University of Minnesota.

"Jim has a wonderful understanding of our patients and of our team, and his background in healthcare and excellent people skills make him very effective in meeting our challenges today and in the future. We are thrilled to have Jim in this new role," says Mikelle Moore, chief executive officer and administrator of LDS Hospital.
