Logan, Utah Logan Regional Hospital's Diagnostic Imaging department now offers the latest in computed tomography (CT) imaging technology with the 64-slice scanner or "Sensation 64." The 64-slice provides high-quality, high resolution views inside the body down to less than one half of a millimeter (the size of the tip of a finely-sharpened pencil).
The new 64-slice scanner and Logan Regional Hospital's 16-slice scanner are used to view and diagnose abnormalities inside a patient's body and assess the extent of a patient's internal injuries. "Both the 16-slice and 64-slice scanners can provide high-resolution, detailed images of your body helping your doctor make an accurate diagnosis and determine the best treatment for you," said Bob Cash, Logan Regional Hospital administrator. "We're pleased that we can now provide patients with the enhanced capabilities of the 64-slice CT scanner in better imaging capabilities for cardiovascular conditions and faster processing times." "Compared to imaging capabilities as recent as four years ago, the 'Sensation 64' can image four times faster," said Nathan Carr, Logan Regional's director of Diagnostic Imaging. "Take the heart for example: The heart is difficult to image because it is small and it moves fast. The 'Sensation 64' is capable of capturing high resolution images of the arteries in the heart between each beat. With the availability of the 'Sensation 64' at Logan Regional Hospital, patients will no longer need to travel outside Cache Valley for CT heart imaging." Other clinical benefits of the new scanner include: Improving the health of the community is a vital part of Logan Regional Hospital's mission. The addition of the new scanner demonstrates Logan Regional Hospital's commitment to providing its patients the highest level of healthcare. The Sensation 64 provides this community the ultimate in CT imaging.
