Help bring healing home to Cache Valley for cancer patients
Currently, the Foundation is conducting a New Cancer Treatment Center Capital Campaign to bring healing home to Cache Valley residents needing radiation oncology and other cancer treatment services. Each year, more than 300 Cache Valley residents are diagnosed with cancer. Approximately 40 percent of those patients require radiation oncology therapy. Cache Valley needs a full-service cancer treatment center to care for cancer patients close to home. Currently, the only option for these patients is to travel to Ogden or Salt Lake for radiation therapy.
Many community residents have voiced a desire to have a radiation oncology cancer treatment center in Cache Valley. Intermountain Healthcare is driven by a community-service mission and has responded to this hope by committing to partner with the community to bring this important service to Logan in the near future.
The total projected cost of the new Cancer Treatment Center is about $6 million.
The project must be funded through a combination of Intermountain Healthcare support and community philanthropy. At least $1.2 million will be funded by community philanthropic support and the remaining balance by Intermountain Healthcare.
The cancer treatment center at Logan Regional Hospital will be a freestanding, 8,200-square-foot facility with a beautiful view of the mountains east of Logan. Hoping that the New Cancer Treatment Center Campaign earns its goal by spring of 2007, ground will be broken in the summer of 2007, with the plan of accepting patients by February of 2008. The center includes a state-of-the-art linear accelerator, eight infusion bays for medical oncology and chemotherapy treatments, and additional cancer services.
The Foundation's ability to improve healthcare depends on your support. Contributions can be made to the New Cancer Treatment Center Campaign, or directed to another program or service.
