Diagnosis & Treatment
The Val & Ann Browning Cancer Center, in conjunction with Surgical Services and Pathology Services, provides complete oncology diagnosis and treatment featuring programs in breast cancer, lymphoma, prostate cancer and radiation oncology.
Treatment for cancer begins with a patient's primary care physician. Once the doctor identifies and diagnoses the disease, patients may be referred to a cancer specialist at McKay-Dee's Val & Ann Browning Cancer Center. The treatment team, along with the patient's primary care physician, plan a course of treatment.
A variety of treatment options are available. Radiation oncology therapists use the linear accelerator and other advanced technologies to map out a treatment area for malignancies requiring radiation therapy. Once the tumor is targeted and a treatment course is plotted, the diseased cells are hit with concentric beams of photons that irradicate the cancer while minimizing exposure to surrounding tissues. Chemotherapy and Surgical Services are also offered through the Val & Ann Browning Cancer Center at McKay-Dee.
