McKay-Dee Hospital

Heart Services Facility & Technology

McKay-Dee Hospital opened its state-of-the-art facility in March 2002, featuring three fully digital catheterization labs that are the most advanced in the western United States. Two of these labs are dedicated to heart catheterization and coronary artery intervention such as balloon angioplasty. The other lab is used to diagnose and treat heart rhythm disorders. In this lab, pacemakers and internal defibrillators are inserted, electrophysiology testing and ablation is performed, and intra-aortic balloon pumps are inserted to improve the heart's effectiveness. If you may be staying overnight for a surgery visit Guest Services for more information about hospital stays.

McKay-Dee has two dedicated cardiovascular surgical suites, critical care has 16 beds, and the cardiovascular thoracic unit has 28 beds, plus four procedure recovery bays. In the vascular lab, specialists evaluate veins and arteries for blood flow and blockages. The echocardiogram procedure rooms are used to perform adult and pediatric echocardiograms. These tests can be done externally or via the esophagus. Echocardiograms are used to diagnose problems with the heart valves or heart pumping action. Heart Services is located on the 3rd floor of the new McKay-Dee Hospital Center. Diagnostic, treatment, cardiac rehabilitation and cardiovascular inpatient rooms are adjacent to the cardiac physician offices.
