Family Medical Library

The Medical Library is open to the public. Families of PCMC patients are especially welcome and encouraged to use the library.

Special Services for Patient Families
Families of patients at Primary Children's are encouraged to use the Medical Library.

Research
The library staff will find information on requested topics. This usually involves finding appropriate sections in textbooks, performing literature searches to find journal articles and searching the Internet. A file cabinet is filled with brochures, pamphlets and articles on topics frequently requested.

Family collection
There is a significant collection of books and videos written/produced for the public. Families may check out one item at a time. Registration is required.

Fax machine
There is no charge for use of the fax machine by patients and their families. The number is (801) 662-1393. If there is a recipient's name and room number on the fax, the library staff will let you know when one arrives for you.

Photocopier
Families may use the copier without charge for anything related to their child's care. For other copying, cost is five cents per page.

Children's Books
Parents and children may borrow these for use in the hospital. Borrowing and returning the books is on the honor system.

Adult and Young Adult Leisure Reading
These are donated books, mostly paperbacks, which anyone may take. Return of the books is not necessary, although it is appreciated. Donations are always welcome!

Collections The Online Catalog searches our books and journals on the Eccles Health Sciences Library Catalog and our journals are listed with those of the Utah Health Sciences Library Consortium. The Family Library collection offers books, videos and pamphlets written for the non-medically trained.

Location and Hours
The library is located at the north end of the first floor of PCMC, across the fountain from the cafeteria.

8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday
* After-hours access is available only to PCMC employees and physicians
