Service Improvements & Expansions

Sanpete Valley Hospital is working to improve patient care by significantly expanding various medical services through new state-of-the-art equipment and major remodeling.

Ultrasound Services
A new Ultrasound machine is now available at Sanpete Valley Hospital. State-of-the-art technology awaits patients in need of ultrasound services. The new machine, purchased in 2003, allows physicians to better determine the status of an unborn child, view tumors and growths, and diagnose a wide variety of illnesses. In the words of Dr. Gary Cole, "An ultrasound machine, such as this, allows physicians to provide top quality medicine."

New Birthing Center
Sanpete Valley Hospital has recently added two new labor and delivery rooms. Mothers-to-be can labor in a spacious room that is uniquely designed to facilitate the birthing process. Beautiful décor, a heated jetted tub, specially designed beds, and relaxing atmosphere are all part of the experience. These new rooms are conveniently located next to the surgical suites, to accommodate c-section deliveries if necessary.

New Post Anesthesia Care Unit
Surgical patients at Sanpete Valley Hospital now recover in a beautiful spacious Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). A most critical time in the surgery process is the wake up time after the surgery. Patients will be cared for in a state-of-the-art recovery room with advanced monitoring and life support capabilities assuring a safe recovery.

Manti Family Health Center Expansion
Expansion of the Manti Family Health Center was completed in August 2003. The facility has doubled in size, and now contains x-ray capabilities. A beautiful new building, and new physician Michael Frischknecht, M.D., make the picture complete. Dr. Frischknecht, a native of Manti, has recently joined the medical staff of Sanpete Valley Hospital.

Emergency Room Expansion
In 2004 Sanpete Valley Hospital undertook an expansion project of our Emergency Room. The new addition doubled the square footage and allowed the hospital to better provide care for trauma and emergency patients. The Sanpete Mountains have become a highly popular recreational area, thus contributing to the number of emergency room patients treated each year.

New CT Scan & X-ray Machines
During 2003, Sanpete Valley Hospital upgraded its radiology services by adding a bigger, faster, CT machine. In the coming year, a new x-ray machine will be purchased, which is much over due. Technology has changed significantly over the years, and this new machine will provide the highest quality x-ray service to our community.

MRI Now Available
MRI is now available at Sanpete Valley Hospital. A mobile MRI unit is now providing this valuable and comprehensive diagnostic service to patients in Sanpete County on a weekly basis. Patients will now save time and money by not having to travel out of the valley to obtain this service.
