Utah Valley Family Medicine Residency

The Utah Valley Family Medicine Residency is very competitive in every field including compensation and benefits. The following is a summary of many of the benefits included with matriculation. The expenses of these benefits are covered for each resident for the duration of residency by Intermountain Healthcare or the Residency.


Salary for 2008-2009

  • PGY1 – $43,775
  • PGY2 – $45,500
  • PGY3 – $47,526
  • Fellows (Sports Medicine and Rural Medicine) – negotiated

Allowances

  • Moving expenses – $3000 allowance for moving and travel expenses. No receipts required
  • Educational fund – $4500 ($1500 per year) for books, computers, medical equipment, CME, etc.
  • Meals – $3600 ($1200 per year) for use in either of the two hospital cafeterias for residents and guests

Time off

  • Vacation time – Twenty business days per year
  • Holidays – Ten paid holidays; if call requires you to work on a holiday, you get an additional vacation day
  • Maternity leave
  • Continuing Medical Education (CME) – five days per year during second and third years
  • Half day per week of administration time during your Family Medicine Outpatient rotations
  • Five flexible quality improvement days during your second and third year to work on quality improvement projects
