Provo, UtahUtah Valley Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce that a new neurologist has joined the medical staff of the hospital. Joanne Link, MD, PhD, comes to Utah from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas, where she was on faculty. She will focus primarily on hospitalized patients with serious neurological conditions, including stroke. Utah Valley Regional's Stroke Program was recently certified and has been recognized by the American Heart Association for meeting clinical outcome standards. A native of Michigan, Dr. Link graduated from medical school at the Aristotelion University in Greece. She also completed a doctorate degree in neuroimmunology at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. She did her residency at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and at the University of South Florida in Tampa. She also filled three fellowships: the first in clinical neuroimmunology in Sweden, the second in behavioral neurology at Harvard Medical School McLean Hospital in Belmont, Mass., and the third in neuro-rehabilitation at Cornell University Burke Rehabilitation Hospital in White Plains, New York. "Neurologists are in short supply across the country. We are delighted to have Dr. Link at Utah Valley Regional. She has an incredibly rich background having trained at some top tier programs. Our patients and the community will be well-served by this addition to our medical staff," said Neil Whitaker, MD, regional medical director. Dr. Link and her son reside in Provo.
