Provo, UtahWade Menlove of Payson, Utah, has been selected as the recipient of the Intermountain Healthcare Beacon of Hope Award, presented by the organization's Utah County Governing Board, for his long-time commitment to youth in his community.

"Wade has taken every opportunity to reach out to children in South Utah County - as a teacher, as an advocate, as a friend," said Kye Miner, Community Health Partnerships manager at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. "He selflessly gives his time and talents to bless so many lives."

Menlove, a former grade school teacher for 14 years in the Nebo School District and father of seven, has been the Language Services Specialist in the Nebo School district for the past seven years. In this role, Menlove has been instrumental in a new district program, providing migrant health screening for underprivileged students, including immunizations, physicals, vision checks, and fluoride varnishings. In addition, Menlove and his committee supply the children with needed hygiene kits, clothing, and self-care guides for their families.

Menlove has also helped children get glasses and overcome transportation challenges, and has coordinated Sub-for-Santa efforts for disadvantaged families during Christmas. Menlove's commitment to youth extends to his long-time service as a scout master and 17 years as a girls softball coach, where he pays for trophies out of his own pocket.

The Beacon of Hope Award is presented quarterly to an individual in Utah County who has made important contributions to better the health and well-being of the community. Nominations for the award can be made to the Communications office at Utah Valley Regional at 357-7207.
