Free Health Screenings, Interactive Tours of the OR, Seminars And Baseball and Soccer Clinics on Tap

TOSH is celebrating 20 years of service with a health fair this Saturday, June 4, that will include interactive tours of operating rooms, free health screenings, informative seminars, outdoor activities, baseball and soccer clinics, and sports performance training demonstration.

“We’re excited to invite the public to this informational and fun event,” says Bryan Johnson, TOSH’s administrator. “We’re proud to have one of the premier facilities in the nation for comprehensive orthopedic surgery and sports medicine, and we invite the public to come and see what we have to offer.”

What will happen at the fair? Saturday’s health fair and 20-year celebration will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at TOSH, 5848 South 300 East in Murray, and will feature a variety of activities for the whole family:

Physician presentations will start at 9 a.m. and continue every hour on a variety of topics:

  • 9 a.m. — Knee and Arthritis & Total Joint Surgery
  • 10 a.m. — Thumb Pain: What’s Hot and What’s Not
  • 11 a.m. — Sports Injury Treatment & Concussions
  • Noon — Spine & Back Pain Treatment

Interactive tours of TOSH's state-of-the-art orthopedic operating rooms will allow participants to get a behind-the-scenes perspective of different surgeries and orthopedic implants. Kids will have the opportunity to tie sutures and repair femur fractures.

Baseball and soccer training can help players from youth to professional levels improve their speed, agility, and power by participating in the TOSH Sports Performance Training program, and participants can get a taste of the program for free at the health fair.

Free screenings — including glucose, cholesterol, eye exams, hearing exams, and blood pressure screenings — will be offered to the first 500 participants.

An Intermountain Life Flight helicopter will be on display, along with a number of emergency vehicles from Gold Cross Ambulance and Murray City Fire Department.

A giant slide, climbing wall, and outdoor activities will be available for kids and families.

Golf demonstrations will be offered to help participants learn about the TOSH Playing My Best Golf program, which is designed for golfers who want to improve their overall golf performance through fitness, play with fewer injuries, and play with more consistency.

Sports performance training methods and strategies will be demonstrated by experts from TOSH’s Sports Performance Training Program.
