Intermountain Medical Center, LDS Hospital, Logan Regional Hospital, and Utah Valley Hospital have been named to Newsweek’s 2020 World’s Best Hospitals list. The ranking also recognized the facilities as Newsweek’s Best Hospitals in Utah.
This is the second year Newsweek has published the rankings, intended to “help their readers discover the hospitals—close to home and around the world—that are shaping the future of medicine.” According to the magazine, included hospitals are at the forefront of adapting to new challenges while providing top-notch patient care.
Newsweek’s rankings are unique among other hospital rating programs due to its global scope of analysis. The 2020 publication includes 1,500 hospitals from 21 countries. American hospitals represent 300 of this year’s total honorees.
“Seeing four of our hospitals make the list is a huge recognition for our physicians and caregivers who make it all possible,” said Mark Briesacher, MD, chief physician executive. “It shows our focus on safety, quality, and the experience of our patients and caregivers is making a difference in outcomes of care which is getting noticed by our peers.”
The rankings are determined using a composite scorecard of peer recommendations, patient experience measures, and medical outcomes. Included countries were mainly selected based on standard of living and life expectancy, population size, number of hospitals and data availability.
