Intermountain Healthcare's central Board of Trustees is comprised of business and opinion leaders from our community, who join key Intermountain executives in leading our organization.

Our trustees work on Intermountain's behalf to:

  • Establish policy and annual goals
  • Provide oversight over management and operations
  • Work with Intermountain leaders to ensure the organization:
    • Achieves its mission
    • Fulfills obligations to stakeholders, including patients, plan members, and the community

The Intermountain Healthcare Board of Trustees has authority over all parts of Intermountain, including Governing Boards.

Local Governing Boards

To improve the effectiveness of governance in our complex organization, the Board of Trustees delegates authority to the Governing Boards to set local policies, goals, and other expectations for hospital management.

Trustee Orientation

To help trustees become familiar with the organization and their responsibilities as advocates of Intermountain, this Trustee Orientation covers such areas as why Intermountain exists; our Mission, Vision, and Values; and how we deliver care. The orientation, which is designed as a model for the Board of Trustees, can be adapted by local Governing Boards. Be aware, this 2016 version is currently being updated and will be available in late July 2017.
