There are a lot of DVDs out there with the latest and greatest workout, hosted by some famous person. But as part of the My Heart Challenge, contestants are provided with customized exercise routines from some of our experts at the Intermountain Heart Institute at Intermountain Medical Center. Check out these simple ab exercises.​

We thought we’d share a simple ab workout that you can do at home. Just make sure you check with your physician before beginning any regular exercise program.

Jeffrey Beck, exercise therapist at Intermountain Medical Center, highlights five different types of ab exercises:

  1. Leg raises

  2. Toe touches

  3. Side crunches

  4. Hip thrust exercises

  5. Alternating reverse crunches

Give it a try, and note that exercise must be combined with good nutrition to maintain a healthy lifestyle. ​
