    IRB iRIS Launch Update

    Attention Researchers!

As you may know, Intermountain’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) currently uses a system called RMS (Research Management System) to manage IRB applications and related workflow. As we announced late last year, the IRB has purchased a new, more robust software management tool, iRIS, to replace RMS…and we’re preparing to launch it next month!

When will iRIS go live? April 10, 2014

Who will this change impact? Everyone who files, maintains, reviews, or is involved with research applications with Intermountain. This means all researchers, coordinators, IRB staff, IRB committee members, statisticians, Office of Research staff and any other folks whose job involves interacting with research protocols.

What will happen with RMS? Starting March 27, 2014, RMS will shut down, so that data from existing studies can be migrated from RMS over to iRIS.

    Important:

    • No applications should be submitted in RMS starting 3/27.
    • All new study applications, continuing reviews or procedural changes should either be submitted in RMS prior to 3/27/2014, or may be submitted in iRIS starting 4/10/2014.

You can view and access your study documents in RMS during the shut-down period, but may not submit any new applications, modifications, or continuing reviews during this time period. If you have urgent items, please contact the IRB office directly.

Will current research study applications from RMS be transferred to iRIS? Old projects, as well as ongoing research projects will be partially migrated to iRIS. More information about data migration will be emailed to researchers who currently have active studies.

Where can I get more information? Email iris@imail.org or call the IRB at 801-408-1707.

You can also come to the Office of Research’s 11th Annual Research Summit on 3/14/2014 to get some more information and have an opportunity to ask questions about iRIS.

I think I need iRIS training. Where can I get it?
