Providing Help – and HOPE – for Teens At Risk for Suicide

Did you know that Utah has one of the highest youth suicide rates in the United States?

It’s true. Did you also know that suicide is the second leading cause of death for all teens and accounts for 6,000 adolescent deaths in America each year?

Every year the number of self inflicted deaths in America climbs. Every ninety minutes, another adolescent in the United States ends their life. Even these high statistics exclude the many suicides that are hidden, or reported as accidents, due to shame or fear.

Suicide is heartbreaking, serious, and a preventable public health crisis.


New USDA Dietary Guidelines: Understanding a Complex Puzzle

This month the USDA released the Dietary Guidelines for Americans eighth edition. What this means is that the Department of Agriculture has determined what they believe to be the best path for a healthy diet. Dietary Guidelines are updated in 5-year-intervals, meaning the next set of guidelines will not be released until the year 2020.
