There is strong evidence that people with atrial fibrillation are also at a risk of developing dementia, Alzheimer’s, and vice versa according to Intermountain Healthcare researchers.

Jared Bunch, MD, Medical Director of Heart Rhythm Services for Intermountain Healthcare and the Intermountain Medical Center Heart Institute recently presented at the Intermountain Research Colloquia last March. Dr. Bunch presented research findings on the association between atrial fibrillation (AFib) and dementia and the therapeutic approaches. AFib in multiple cohorts of study has been also shown to be associated with Alzheimer’s, senile, and vascular dementia.
