The U.S. News and World Report’s rankings highlighted the top 50 out of 110 U.S. children’s hospitals in 10 pediatric specialties: cancer, cardiology & heart surgery, diabetes & endocrinology, gastroenterology & GI surgery, neonatology, nephrology, neurology & neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology, and urology.

Primary Children’s Medical Center was nationally ranked in five different categories.

    • Pediatrics: Neurology & Neurosurgery (#16)
    • Pediatrics: Cardiology & Heart Surgery (#22)
    • Pediatrics: Orthopedics (#25)
    • Pediatrics: Gastroenterology & GI Surgery (#37)
    • Pediatrics: Urology (#48)

“Primary Children’s deserves high praise,” said Health Rankings Editor Avery Comarow. “Ranking shows the dedication and expertise that Primary Children’s brings to the care of children who need those qualities the most. We think it is important to identify all call attention to pediatric centers like this one.”

Katy Welkie, CEO of Primary Children’s commented on this national recognition, “We are honored to once again be recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top children’s hospitals in the nation. These rankings reflect the continual dedication and hard work by our physicians, nurses, and other staff members to live the philosophy of the hospital, “The Child First and Always.”
Primary Children’s Medical Center serves children covering a 5-state area. Our 289-bed hospital is equipped and staffed to care for children with complex illness and injury. We are the only level 1 pediatric children’s hospital serving the Intermountain West.

“A hospital specialized for children bring all of its expertise and focus on children’s health, rather than operating as a pediatric appendage in a hospital with an adult focus. Not only does this make Primary Children’s a wonderful resource for the community, it makes a statement about how we, as a community, feel about children.”
