This is a very fun and highly specialized pregnancy and post-partum yoga and strengthening class taught by an RN, Childbirth Educator, certified in pre and postnatal fitness. Specific yoga poses, strengthening exercises, breathing techniques, and relaxation methods are taught. The curriculum is designed to help mothers prepare their body for birth, and aid with the recovery and strengthening afterwards. The techniques may also help relieve physical and emotional discomforts that often occur during pregnancy and through the first year after birth.
In this one-session class, women learn techniques they can continue to practice at home. They will receive written materials to help with this practice. Although this is a one-session class, women are welcome to register for multiple sessions so they can continue to have instructions according to their own discomforts, considerations, and fitness levels with their changing body during pregnancy and post-partum periods. There are several routines created for this class, so mothers will see something new with each session they register for.
The Childbirth Preparation, HypnoBirthing, and Baby Care Classes go well with this course to help you prepare for birth.
This one-session class is held in the Education Department at McKay-Dee Hospital. This is located on the first floor on the South end next to the cafe. Please refer to the computer monitor as you enter the Education Department to see what specific room we are in when you come. You will want to wear comfortable clothing for exercise and bring a water bottle. We provide yoga mats, however, if you would like to bring your own, you are welcome to do that also.
