At Dixie Regional Medical Center, we fully support breastfeeding as the “Gold Standard” for providing infant nutrition. The Caring for Yourself and Your Baby/Breastfeeding class covers the routine hospital tests and procedures for your newborn, normal appearance and behaviors, and how to care for your baby at home. Learn how to have a positive experience with your newborn and get breastfeeding off to a great start.
The class covers what to expect in the early postpartum period as well as an introduction to breastfeeding and is recommended in 2nd or 3rd trimester.
This is a comprehensive class describing how to care for yourself in the postpartum period as well as how to care for your newborn. Topics include:
Mom: Bleeding, after pains (cramping), soreness, infection prevention, hemorrhoids/ constipation, breast care, physical activity
Baby: Breastfeeding basics, bathing, diapering/bowel movements/rash, umbilical cord care, sleeping, tummy time, skin to skin, shaken baby syndrome
Topics include: breastfeeding, safe sleep, swaddling, bathing, feeding, car seat safety and guidelines for when to call the doctor. Also covered is what changes to expect for the mother in the weeks and months following birth.
Scholarships are available for financial hardship – and all class fees are waived for Simply Birth applicants.
