St George: Childbirth Preparation Series

  • This series is $90.00 for the pregnant woman PLUS a support person.

Taught by a Registered Nurse. This class teaches that birth is normal, natural, and healthy. Class topics include physical and emotional changes of pregnancy and motherhood, warning signs, nutrition, labor signs and the process of labor, birth plans, pain management options, labor complications, hospital care, communication, postpartum care, newborn care, and breastfeeding. You will also learn many low intervention techniques including: breathing, relaxation, meditation, positions and partner support.  

Class #1- Pregnancy: Safe Exercises, Common Discomforts, Nutrition, Signs of Labor

Class #2 - Labor: Stages of Labor and Birth, When to Go to the Hospital

Class #3 - Interventions: Epidurals, Inductions, C-Sections and Birth Plans

Class #4 - Coping: Relaxation, Massage, Positions, Breathing, and Labor Support

Class #5 - After Birth: Caring for Yourself and Your Baby

Class #6 - Breastfeeding: Latch and Positions, Common Concerns, Going Back to Work

The North Tower Conference room is located next to the Primary Children’s Outpatient Clinic and Women’s Clinics on the first floor of the North Tower. The closest parking is Pink Parking, located in front of the building, designated as Building #1.  Please allow 10 extra minutes for way-finding.
