Shannon Baker, MD named Medical Director for South Salt Lake Medical Group

Please join the Medical Group and Community-Based Care in welcoming Shannon Baker, MD as the new medical director for South Salt Lake. Dr. Baker is a board-certified family medicine physician who has practiced at West Jordan Clinic since 2014. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Medical School in 2003. She completed her Family Medicine Residency at Intermountain's McKay-Dee Hospital and was Chief Resident while serving there. She has worked as an InstaCare physician at Layton Clinic. Prior to practicing at the West Jordan Clinic, she spent seven years in Fort Worth Texas and was a partner with USMD, a large physician-owned medical group. While with USMD she was a regional physician leader. 

Building relationships with entire families while focusing on disease prevention throughout their lives has been a highlight of Dr. Baker’s career. She is an excellent example of our mission of helping people live the healthiest lives possible by partnering with patients for shared decision-making.

Since working in the South Salt Lake Geography, Dr Baker has helped with iCentra implementation throughout the system and served as a Physician Advocate. She currently co-chairs this geography's Population Health Committee.

She is married to her high school sweetheart who is currently serving his 21st year in the U.S. Air Force as a F-35 pilot at Hill Air Force Base. They have two children who attend the Madeleine Choir School downtown. As a family, they enjoy international travel, mountain biking, camping and skiing.
